The Oldest Whisky Ever Bottled!

Our Adelphi roots stretch across a yawning chasm of time spanning two centuries. Long before Ardnamurchan Distillery was born, The Loch Katrine Adelphi Distillery was built in 1826 by the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow, spawning a history that still lives on today. All whisky from that era was thought to be long ago consigned to the dustbin of history, until now!

We have unearthed an astonishing piece of history, a bygone dram from the original Adelphi Distillery which has slumbered undisturbed in a single refill cask for 200 years!

With an oh-so-convenient ABV of 40.1%, we can still class this as Scotch whisky.

The rare few team members who have been able to taste it couldn’t even write tasting notes. They were rendered speechless, entirely mute, unable to comprehend the riches which unfolded from their dram glasses.

There are only 13 bottles left of this absolute unicorn. The price is, we think, a pretty reasonable £1826 per bottle.

The latest Adelphi release of single casks is out in the wild; Coal Ila, Teaninich, Dailuaine, Knockdhu, Clynelish, Glen Garioch, Pulteney and Lochlea… a proper tour of Scotland in liquid form 🥃

From coastal smoke to waxy elegance and rich, fruity depth, there is something here for every whisky lover.

Matured for 10 years in a first-fill bourbon barrel, this Highland single cask was bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.9% vol, and yielded just 224 bottles.

On the nose there’s custard creams, pithy mandarin and lemon curd alongside damp blazer, fresh laundry and wet hay, with a touch of honeycomb. The palate brings granular white chocolate, almond cake and more honeycomb, followed by candy floss, Turkish Delight and amaretti biscuits. The finish is elegant, complex and nicely layered.

Matured in a refill Oloroso sherry cask and bottled at natural cask strength (56.2%), this cask yielded just 275 bottles.

Bronze in colour, the nose brings layers of cookie dough, burnt caramel, beurre noisette, toasted marshmallow, butterscotch, gingerbread, cardamom and sultanas.

The palate follows with cinnamon-poached pear, salted liquorice, molasses, warm sourdough, macerated boysenberries and rye.

The finish is medium-long with a savoury twist — think Twiglets. 🥃

Here is Jenny giving a proper introduction to our latest single cask, a 16 year old Teaninich from 2010. A First-Fill Oloroso Hogshead, bottled at a natural 59.4% ABV. Just 261 bottles were filled from this Highland cask. Expect a deep bronze colour with vibrant notes of cola cubes, orange sherbet and pink grapefruit peel on the nose, alongside juniper, Angostura bitters and pink peppercorn. The palate brings Haribo cola bottles, Italian vermouth, balsamic glaze and dark cherry, leading to a long, sweet and savoury finish with earthy forest floor notes. 🥃

This is a 10 Years Old from a refill PX Hogshead bottled at 58.0% Vol. There are only 311 bottles available - be quick!
Expect layers of salted prunes, spiced almonds, apricot, scrumpy cider, followed by cacao powder, star anise, stewed apple and hazelnuts.

Full-bodied, viscous and pleasantly drying.

Connal is sharing something special - a new Adelphi bottling of Glen Garioch from 2011, Cask #928.

14 years in a first-fill ASB, bottled at a robust 57.6% (only 201 bottles).

Fresh and zesty with white chocolate & sea salt, pink peppercorn, apple strudel and clotted cream. Hints of Turkish delight, sugared almonds and spice, finishing bright, sweet and seriously moreish.

This is a 17 Years Old Highland dram from a Refill Bourbon Hogshead, bottled at 51.6% Vol, 1 of only 330 bottles.

It’s not every day you come across an independently bottled Pulteney, making this release truly something special. We feel incredibly privileged to share it with you. 🤩

Bright and coastal, with pear and white chocolate on the nose, layered with coconut, citrus, and buttery scones on the palate, finishing sparkling and zesty with a hint of salt.

This is a whisky that surprises and delights with every sip – a rare gem that whisky lovers will truly appreciate.
