Today Alex met with the Royal Mile Whiskies team @rmw_edin to drop off some whisky (he’s a nice guy).

He left with a very generous 30 year anniversary gift of a bottle of Breath of Adelphi. 😍🎁🥃

This is the predecessor to our ‘Breath of…’ series. It was available in the late 90s.

Bottled at 40%.

Here is what the label says:

2023 was the year Adelphi turned 30. 🥳🍾

Three decades full of glorious whisky and people came together beautifully at the end of November when we had our 'Whiskies & Stories' event in Fife. People who shaped, supported and made Adelphi what it is today were there to celebrate. 🥃

Along with the recent, very special, releases, we feel this was a worthy way to mark the occasion.

More nice releases will follow in 2024, don't worry. ☺️

For the last post from our 30th birthday release… anyone for 26-year-old Islay? This refill Oloroso sherry butt was filled in 1997 at Bowmore. 🤩

What a whisky this turned out to be! An otherworldly combination of traits, with leather armchair, old books, and smoked Old Fashioned mixing with meaty mushrooms, juniper, venison jus, Saint Nectaire cheese, and eucalyptus. Integrated peat on this one that almost takes a secondary role to the umami-forward and savoury tones throughout.

Unique and incredible.

Our outrageous outturn rolls on, and the celebratory drams aren’t letting up! Next up we have a 36-year-old grain whisky from North British, just to make sure the Caroni rum bottling didn’t feel left out amongst the single malts. 😁

This refill bourbon hogshead was filled in 1987 and demonstrates just how delicious a well-aged grain can be. Macadamia nut, macaron, Frangelico, and rhum baba meld with bright fruit notes of limoncello and pineapple upside down cake for a light, bright, complex, and delightful dram. Not a bad whisky to pour after you’ve had your bubbly to celebrate New Year’s! 🥂🥃
